Barcelona I

On Saturday, we got up and went to the airport for our flight to Barcelona. I was so excited when we could see the Mediterranean Sea as we were flying in and we actually flew over it for a while as we circled. Beautiful!!!

Barcelona is the easiest town to get to from its airport that I have ever been to. We took the Aerobus (runs every 6 minutes) and we were a 300 yard walk from our hotel in less than 30 minutes. We stayed in the Hotel Lleo which is very close to the action and very nice, even if the rooms are a little small. After we got all situated in the room and threw down our luggage, we went for a walk down the Rambla. The Rambla is sort of a cross between a big city street and a carnival. There are tons of street performers, booths selling everything from art to scarves, and LOTS of people.

The Rambla:We found a good looking restaurant and had "lunch" (they eat lunch at like 2:30 in Spain). Amanda had a leg of lamb as big as her head! After lunch, we wandered the rest of the way down the Rambla to the Mediterranean waterfront. We got to walk into the Mediterranean! There were a few people in bathing suits (and some totally naked) but at around 70 degrees, it was a little too cold for swimming (and there is no temperature at which most of those people should have been naked in public...ick!).Barceloneta: The "Beach Town"We hung out near the beach for a while and eventually wandered back up the Rambla, had a light dinner (including octopus tapas), and turned in early since we were all so tired. I love Barcelona!!!
